Sendo pequena, quando se tem em conta a escala mexicana – apenas cerca de 180 mil habitantes - San Cristóbal de las Casas, em Chiapas, é uma cidade onde a herança colonial se cruza com a herança indígena vivendo ambos em grande harmonia.
No centro histórico são diversos os edifícios e monumentos em estilo colonial. Mas, depois, as cores, as tradições, os estilos, acentuam a sua essência indígena, resultando numa cidade cheia de charme, com atmosfera boémia e artística, onde não faltam os mercados com muito artesanato, têxteis, cerâmicas, brinquedos em madeira, peças em couro e também muitos doces!
Nos arredores da cidade, a beleza natural é enorme: com montanhas, desfiladeiros, rios, cascatas, e tudo o que é preciso para guardar memórias realmente divertidas.
Palenque
Que dia inesquecível!
Se é o México pré-hispânico que o encanta, aqui estará de queixo caído o tempo inteiro. Palenque é um extraordinário local arqueológico maia, localizado em plena selva tropical.
Tal aconteceu porque após o seu declínio, em 799 d.C. a natureza foi tomando o seu lugar, cobrindo os edifícios e monumentos de cedros, mognos e sapotilas, o que lhe deu uma atmosfera muito especial e mística.
Entretanto escavado e posto a descoberto, mas rodeado de uma paisagem selvagem exuberante, visitar este lugar é sentir a essência do povo Maia, os seus usos e costumes, os seus rituais e crenças.
O Templo das Inscrições e o Palácio são alguns exemplos que ajudam a entender a grandiosidade desta antiga civilização, mas entre múltiplos edifícios, templos, aquedutos e jardins são muitos os motivos que vão tornar a sua visita num dia inolvidável!
